KidTrek has created curriculum to fit the needs of at-risk kids. Each unit includes four weeks of material. The unit is based on a theme that is dealt with through the month. Each week includes: Bible Focus, Bible 101 (Teens), Family Time, Life Skills, Crafts, The Arts, Read Aloud, and Recreation.
The first KidTrek unit is Confidence. When you have grown up in a world of chaos, where often you have watched your parents struggle for your next meal, it is difficult to feel confident about the future. Below is the Introduction to the Confidence curriculum.
Confidence A faith or belief that one will act in a right, proper, or effective way.
At-risk kids are lost in a society that has chosen to move ahead without them.
What put them at-risk? Adults who are unwilling or unable to nurture them in God’s way.
Today’s kids are enticed by a culture that lures them with easy fixes and a fast reward. They need nurturing relationships and they don’t have them. There are no easy fixes or fast rewards – but we can provide relationships that provide support, Biblical training, and unconditional love.
Jesus Christ has the answers. It is in Him that at-risk kids learn confidence – not in him/herself, but in the Triune God. It is the KidTrek Secondary Nurturer that leads kids to discover eternal truth.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
